7 Setup (Client)

See this chapter if you want to enter relevant databases, to locate and to configure the search aspect in the Search.

7.1 LOCATE FUNCTION

The Locate function of the Search function enables you to find records in other databases. You are responsible for setting up the criteria.

The entries must be done in ../alephcom/tab/locate.dat.

This table is made up of two frames. The first column displays the name of the database and the other two columns display the defined Database Code.

7.2 SEARCH ASPECT

Depending on which database (Title, Autors,etc.) you are connected, different search types are possible.

You can find a complete list in help menu, chapter CCL command language.

The search aspect are defined in ../etc/mabindex.ext. To search in the title database, you find the defined entries under the (titindex) section, to search in the autors database, choose the (autindex) etc. If you want to add or to delete an entry, there are different parameters for each search.

Attention: The settings are actived, if the Alephino-Server is updating .

For information about option, see the
EDI section of the Acquisitions/Serials module. See our Support database in the Knowledge-Base to find information about 'how to create a new index'

7.2.1 Advanced Search and Refine

Enter the FIND=Y or FIND=N parameter for the Advanced Search or the Refine window. The search query Artist for example, is defined in the title database as default. If you don't need this search query, set FIND=N in the ../etc/mabindex.ext file ((titindex)section).

INDEX=KUE,LINK=21,FIND=N,SCAN=N

7.2.2 Multi-Field-Search

To define the list of fields for a Find Multi-Field query, choose the DIRECT=parameter. If this search query is contained, choose DIRECT=Y. If this search query is not contained, choose DIRECT=N.

7.2.3 Browse

Set the SCAN= parameter for the contents inside of the Index. If SCAN=Y parameter is set or if the parameter is not used, all index queries will be displayed in the index search. To delete this query, the SCAN=N parameter must be set.

7.2.4 Search Aspect All Fields

The search aspect All fields (Search request=ALL (Titles) or Search Request=MEX (Items)) contains only important search aspects. If you want to expand this Index to another search request, you must add the FAM=ALL parameter to the desired Index Words.

Example: Search Request ART (Artist) should be used for all fields.

INDEX=KUE,LINK=21,FIND=Y,SCAN=Y,FAM=ALL

The Search request Artist will be displayed in the advances search, in the index list and will be analysed in Index for all fields.
